SAINT PAUL AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ANNOUNCES 2015 DEUBENER AWARD WINNERS (SAINT PAUL, MINN., NOVEMBER 6, 2015) - Last evening, the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce announced the 2015 Deubener Award winners at the Seventh Annual Chamber Honors Gala. Members of the local business community gathered at A'BULAE to celebrate business success in the Saint Paul/East Metro area and honored businesses and individuals from the community for their tremendous efforts. Individual Award Winners: Emerging Volunteer of the Year Jim Mulrooney, Wells Fargo Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Joan Siewert-Cardona, Ideal Printers Legacy of Leadership Patricia Mitchell, Ordway Center for the Performing Arts About the Deubener Awards In honor of Walter & Lydia Deubener, the Saint Paul Area Chamber annually presents Deubener Awards to five organizations that exemplify growth, excellence, risk, diversity and innovation. The Deubeners were the proprietors of a grocery store in downtown Saint Paul and invented the first shopping bag with handles, which increased the store's business overnight. The couple eventually sold their store and established manufacturing facilities in Saint Paul, with sales in 1919 totaling one million bags.
