Event Description: Stephanie Shimp, Owner, Blue Plate Restaurant Company
In 1993, along with her ex-husband David Burley, Stephanie Shimp opened the Highland Grill. What was previously an ice cream shop became the start of the neighborhood’s “second kitchen.” 

With each year becoming busier than the last, David and Stephanie felt like they were on to something. It was time to grow.  In the 21 years since the Highland Grill opened, the duo opened the Groveland Tap and Scusi in Saint Paul, The Edina Grill in Edina, Longfellow Grill and The Lowry in Minneapolis,  3 Squares in Maple Grove. The newest addition to the Blue Plate family, The Freehouse, a brewery and restaurant opened in December 2013. The hand-crafted beers beers brewed at Freehouse will be distributed to the rest of the Blue Plate family. Another venture is on the horizon as the Blue Barn will open at the Minnesota State Fair this August.


At this event we will also recognize new members and our monthly Celebrate Business Success Award recipient, sponsored by Briggs and Morgan Professional Association.
