Tell Me More About the Professional of Color Initiative

Recently ranked the best state in the nation for business, Minnesota is an amazing place to live and work. However, we face a glaring retention problem for new hires, particularly those of color. Recent data from the University of Minnesota reveals that out of the 25 largest metro cities in the country our region ranks #14 for retaining professionals of color. In a joint initiative, Make It. MSP. and the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce (SPACC) are committed to offering action-oriented solutions for keeping talented professionals of color in this region.

Through events focused on making connections, we will strengthen the network of professionals of color in the Twin Cities. We know that the stronger these communities are, the more likely new hires of color will remain in the region long term.

In addition to events, we are assembling a Regional Strategy Team to improve retention of professionals of color. This team is a coalition of cross-sector partners representing the private, public, philanthropic, and civic arenas.
